In accordance with its Lumber Purchase Policy, Brasilmad does not purchase controversial sources, that is, sources from areas that may be directly or indirectly involved in the following activities:
a) Illegal logging or illegal forest products or logging trade;
b) Violation of traditional rights and human rights in forest operations;
c) Destruction of high conservation values in forest operations;
d) Substantial conversion of forests to plantations or non-forest use;
e) Introduction of genetically modified organisms in forest operations;
f) Violation of any of the ILO fundamental conventions as defined in the ILO Declaration on Fundamental Labor Principles and Rights, 1998.

Brasilmad monitors its suppliers through internal company audits as well as external audits by the FSC® certifying body.
